I’ll tell you why. The town I want to post about next, the pictures are on my phone. So, you might ask, “Michelle, why don’t you just download the pictures off your phone?” I would if my freakin’ phone was compatible with Windows 7 or Vista. Every computer in my house is 7 or Vista and I can’t get the pictures of off it. I guess my next attempt is to go to the Sprint website and try to get them from there. Hopefully, you will see my next town, Leesburg, FL, up on my blog soon.
Post, TX
This is a town of 3,733 people. It is a town literally dreamed up by the cereal magnate C.W. Post. But he didn’t stop at a dream, he fulfilled it by moving to west Texas just south of Lubbock and actually building it. To learn more about his dream see http://www.postcitytexas.com/history.html. David and I discovered this quaint little town during a trip to Lubbock. It is just one of many we discovered on this trip and I will be posting those one at a time a little later. It has an historic downtown with a charming little bookstore. The Garza County Historical Museum is located a couple of blocks away. The museum building is a renovated sanitarium also started by C.W. Post. To tell you the truth, it kind of gave me the creeps but I don’t really care for vintage/antique medical supplies and equipment. Here are the pics taken while we were there. David took most of them.
- Poster in the museum
- WOW! Just outside of town they are still using glass conductors on utility poles
- Originally a sanitarium founded by C.W. Post
- Nice Greek Revival architectural style with strong vertical lines
- Great building sign welcoming you to Post
Fulshear, TX
This is the first of hopefully many blog postings based on small towns that I visit. I have always been a fan of small towns, since I am from one, but now I want to start documenting my visits. The result is this pictorial blog of interesting images and facts. I hope you enjoy seeing these little towns through my camera lens and see for yourself just how interesting and fun a little town can be.
